Kyle Milligan enters his second season as an assistant coach with the Mercyhurst University men’s basketball program, bringing collegiate coaching experience across multiple levels, a strong background in recruiting and player development, and extensive experience in grassroots basketball.
Milligan began his coaching career at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, where he served as a Student Assistant and assisted with all aspects of the program, including player development, game film, practice planning, and in-game strategy.
Milligan then served as a Graduate Assistant at Russell Sage College while completing his master’s degree in Sports Science: Coaching and Mental Performance. During his time at Russell Sage, Milligan helped develop two Empire 8 Defensive Players of the Year and two Empire 8 All-Conference selections.
Prior to joining Mercyhurst, Milligan spent the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach at SUNY Oswego, helping lead the Lakers to 17 wins and a berth in the SUNYAC Semifinals. He played an integral role in recruiting, scouting, player development, strength and conditioning, and camp operations. Milligan helped develop SUNYAC Player of the Year Deacon Judd, two SUNYAC Rookies of the Year, five SUNYAC All-Conference selections, and a two-time All-Region III selection.
At Mercyhurst, Milligan is involved in high school, transfer portal, and international recruiting, on-court instruction, player development, scouting, and basketball operations. He has helped develop NEC First Team All-Conference selection Bernie Blunt III, NEC Third Team All-Conference selection Jake Lemelman, and NEC All-Defensive Team selection Qadir Martin. Milligan also serves as the program’s Elite Camp Director and assists with academic and other basketball operations responsibilities.
A native of Albany, N.Y., Milligan, Milligan has established a successful track record in grassroots basketball. From 2021-25, he served as the Assistant Program Director for the Cap City Scrappers on the Puma NxtPro Circuit. Under his leadership, all eight players on his 17U roster went on to sign with NCAA programs, including Shane Kirker, who now plays at Mercyhurst. His responsibilities with the program included coaching, recruiting, academic monitoring, fundraising, budgeting, and travel operations.
