Erie, PA- The Mercyhurst Softball team is getting set to play at home for the first time this season. The Lakers will host St. Bonaventure and LIU after playing their first 16 games on the road. Mercyhurst and St. Bonaventure played in the ETSU tournament earlier this month, where the Bonnies won 14-6 in a 20+ hit thriller.
Lakers' Form
Mercyhurst is currently 0-16 on the season and 0-6 in conference play. Their last outing included an NEC series loss to FDU.
Jazlynn Sanders and
Mackenzie Gillis have been generating some of the Lakers' offensive play this season. These two freshmen have combined for 20 hits, 13 RBIs, 10 runs, and four home runs so far.
Eliza Reynolds is another key player who has been contributing to the team. The Lakers' shortstop has 10 hits, five RBIs, and four runs this season.
Scouting the Bonnies
St. Bonaventure is 4-16 overall and 0-6 in the Atlantic 10. Their most recent games included a conference series loss to George Mason University. The Bonnies may look to Karena Recrosio or Kendall Stull for their batting. Recrosio has 24 hits, 16 runs, and four RBIs this season. Stull has 18 hits, 17 RBIs, and seven runs so far.
Scouting the Sharks
LIU has a 10-17 overall record and 4-2 record in conference play. Their most games featured a conference series sweep over Stonehill College. The Sharks have four players with 13+ runs this season. Alyssa Garcia has 22 hits, 18 runs, nine RBIs, and three home runs so far and will likely be called upon for her offensive success.
