JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Mercyhurst baseball team stumbled in the Pennslyvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship game 20-6 to Seton Hill on Sunday afternoon at Point Stadium.
The Lakers (37-6) finished runners-up in the tournament behind the PSAC West Division Griffins (36-18), who finished with a perfect 4-0 record in the tournament.
The Lakers were ranked first in the NCAA Atlantic Regional rankings entering the week and will await the results of the NCAA Division II Selection Show. The Lakers aim to qualify for their fourth straight Atlantic Regional Tournament.
Seton Hill took control of the game early and never let up, scoring four runs off Lakers' pitcher
Levi Wright in the first inning. The Griffins scored in each of their innings at the plate except for the third inning. They ripped 16 hits in the game.
Of Mercyhurst's eight hits,
Collin Fantaskey had two, including a solo home run in the seventh inning.
Matthew Schneider also had two hits with a home runa home run. His two-run blast came in the ninth inning.
