BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst women's tennis team defeated Bloomsburg, 5-0, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal on Friday.

The Lakers swept doubles play, outpointing their opponents 24-5, before Adrianna Jeffress and Annie Baich claimed singles victories to seal the Mercyhurst win.

Adrianna Jeffress and Kayla Frost won the No. 1 doubles match against Cassidy Calimer and Vitoria Nery, 8-2, while Annie Baich and Saioa Gomez de Segura claimed a 8-2 win themselves at second doubles over Anna Newcomer and Catherine Garrity.

Alexia Nay and Adina Spahalic won at third doubles over Siena Cerra and Lizzy Schmitt, 8-1.

Jeffress and Baich were singles winners at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Jeffress bested Garrity, 6-1, 6-0, and Baich defeated Cassandra Wentz, 6-0, 6-0.

With the win, the Lakers advanced to the PSAC Tournament finals and will take on Indiana (Pa.) at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
