BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's tennis team won its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal matchup over Bloomsburg, 5-1, on Friday.
The Lakers won 2 of 3 doubles matches and, then,
Joaquin Aguilera,
Sebastian Pardo and
Conor McCooey came through with singles wins to finish off the match.
Mercyhurst earned points at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Nenad Terzic and
Cormac McCooey combined for an 8-3 win at first doubles over Gerard Puig and Steve Williams while
Joaquin Aguilera and
Conor McCooey claimed an 8-6 victory against Pedro Andari and Pablo Herrero.
With the Lakers ahead 2-1, Pardo claimed the first singles point for MU with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Henrico Conrado Stemmer at No. 4 singles.
Conor McCooey followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Andari at fifth singles before Aguilera clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-2 triumph against Leonardo Nakasone at third singles.
With the win, the Lakers set themselves up with a PSAC Tournament final matchup against Edinboro on Saturday.
