                     ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst University women's water polo team got back to their winning ways Thursday night, as they went on to defeat Penn State Behrend, 15-2. The 15 goals against the Lions (2-10) is a season-high, helping them to end a six game skid.
It was a strong first half for the Lakers (5-9), as they scored five goals in each of the first two periods.
Aleeyse Utech scored two goals in the first period, while 
Jena Clinch, 
Meagan Marques, and 
Cristal Maldonado each added one.
Carly Romano scored her first goal of the season, as Mercyhurst tacked on five more goals in the second period, jumping out to a 10-2 halftime advantage.
It was Utech, Maldonado, and 
Nicki Borella who scored in the third period. It was Borella's first goal of the season.
Freshman 
Emma Svantesson and junior 
Amanda Wolterink also recorded their first goals of the season in the fourth period, as the Lakers defense blanked the Lions in the second half.
Mercyhurst will return to action Saturday, March 26, when they travel to Lewisburg, Pa. to take on Bucknell University (11-11) at 1:00 p.m.
