BLOOMINGTON, IN – The Mercyhurst University women's water polo team traveled to Bloomington, Indiana for the Fluid Five Invite, where they played the host #16 Indiana and Sonoma State University on Saturday. The Lakers fell in game one, 15-5, before falling, 9-8, in nightcap against the Seawolves.

The Lakers fell behind early in game one, trailing the Hoosiers 2-0 after the first period of play.
Indiana would tack on four more goals, before Mercyhurst's
Kennedy Watson recorded her 30th goal of the season. Watson's unassisted goal helped the Lakers take a 7-1 deficit into halftime.
Mercyhurst would add four goals in the second half, two in each period; but the Hoosiers offense was too much, as they ran away with their 13th win of the season.
Watson added another goal in the third period, while
Amanda Wolterink assisted
Becky Insalaco late in the third, to end the period at 12-3 in favor of Indiana. Insalaco scored her second goal of the afternoon with 5:22 to play, off an assist from her teammate
Jena Clinch. Watson, then, assisted
Meagan Marques at the 3:23 mark, to end the scoring at 15-5.
Jesse Sworden made eight saves and came away with two steals, as she falls to 4-6 overall in net.
Indiana held the slight shots advantage, outshooting Mercyhurst, 33-31.

Game Two | Mercyhurst 8 Sonoma State 9
Mercyhurst held a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period, but Sonoma State rattled off six goals in the second quarter, helping them to a 6-3 halftime lead.
The Seawolves would tack on three more goals in the third, before the Lakers made a comeback, scoring five goals in the final frame. However, the comeback fell a goal short, as Sonoma went on to win their 10th game of the season.
Annie Blackman led the way for Mercyhurst, scoring three goals, while Insalaco added two.
Katie Appell, Marques and Watson also added a goal apiece.
Sworden made eight saves in the loss.The Lakers will conclude play at the Fluid Five tomorrow, when they face California State East Bay at 11:20 a.m.
