PITTSBURGH, Pa. --
Tommaso Bucci and
Chris Makowski scored goals to help the Mercyhurst men's ice hockey team climb back from a two-goal deficit and forge a 2-2 tie with Robert Morris in Atlantic Hockey action on Friday. The host Colonials were receiving votes on the latest USCHO poll.
Bucci scored late in the second period with assist from
Jeremy Wu and
Jack Riley. Makowski provided the game-tying goal with 6:17 remaining in regulation, getting assists from Riley and
Anthony Mastrodicasa.
Adam Carlson made 50 saves in net for the Lakers (11-11-1, 9-7-1), including nine in an overtime period in which Mercyhurst was outshot, 9-0.
Zac Lynch and Brendan Denham had goals for the Colonials (14-7-4, 11-4-4). RMU goaltender Terry Shafer stopped 35 shots.
Both teams were scoreless on the powerplay: Mercyhurst, 0-for-6, and Robert Morris, 0-for-3. RMU held a 52-37 shot advantage.
The same two teams will meet again Saturday in Pittsburgh, beginning at 7:05 p.m.
