LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior Courtney Smith of the Mercyhurst University softball team was named to the 2013 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference All-Conference team for her performances this season.
 
The PSAC chooses one team from each division which consists of 14 players, one from each position.  The designated player (DP) and the utility player are now separated.  There are still three outfielders selected and two pitchers in addition to two at-large selections that are determined by a second round of voting. 
 
Smith, a native of Amherst, New York, led the Lakers in batting average throughout the entire season.  Smith finished with a .411 average, tied for second on the team in homeruns (3) and led the team in doubles (13) and RBIs (28).  Smith was fifth in the conference in batting average, and third in doubles.
 
Smith proved herself offensively and excelled in the field. Smith recorded 400 putouts and 26 assists.  She only had seven errors the entire season and concluded play with a fielding percentage of .984.
