LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Mercyhurst junior
Caroline Bristol's stellar 2012-13 season did not go unnoticed as she was honored by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference with All-PSAC honors in both singles and doubles. The announcement was made by the league office on Friday afternoon.
In doubles, Bristol was honored with her season-long teammate, sophomore
Sarah Baich.
A native of Orchard Park, New York, Bristol played at #1 singles and posted a 22-3 overall record which included a 15-1 mark in dual matches. She went 4-1 against PSAC competition. Her only loss in duals this season came against the PSAC Player of the Year - Luci Sipkova from California (Pa.).
Bristol and Baich, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, were honored after going 18-4 as a duo in the #1 position in doubles. The pair went 15-2 in dual matches this season and were a perfect 4-0 against PSAC opponents.
In her three seasons at Mercyhurst, Bristol has posted a career record of 47-11 at singles and 51-13 in doubles.
Baich, in two seasons, is 28-8 in singles and 29-9 in doubles.
The duo helped to lead the Lakers to the NCAA Atlantic Regional this season. As announced via the selection show on NCAA.com late Tuesday evening, the Lakers (14-4) enter the tournament as the #4 seed in the Atlantic Region and will play fifth-seeded West Liberty State (16-8) on Saturday, April 27 at 12:00 p.m. in an Atlantic Region preliminary round match.
Mercyhurst last made the NCAA Atlantic Regional during the 2010-11 season. The Lakers defeated Charleston 5-3 in their opening match before suffering a 6-0 loss to California (Pa.) the following day.
