Willie Bohince capped off his freshman campaign with a seventh-place All-America finish at the 2013 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, defeating Gannon's Matthew Turek by an 8-0 margin to wrap up the season.
The 125-pound rookie finished his stellar first season in a Laker uniform with a 35-7 mark and highlighted a quartet of Lakers representing Mercyhurst University at the Division II Championships Festival in Birmingham, Alabama.
Against Turek, Bohince posted a takedown in the first period and then followed with two nearfall points in the second. He added an escape and a takedown in the third period. The riding time advantage provided the match's final score.
Entering the morning session, Bohince faced the nation's top-ranked wrestler in Alex Johns of Indianapolis. Johns got out to a quick start with a 5-0 lead, but Bohince was able to shake loose in the second period and early in the third to bring the match to 8-4. Johns received a stall warning and Bohince continued to work towards the comeback but could not overcome the early deficit.
