INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- The Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team will take on Dowling in an NCAA Semfinal at Tullio Field on Saturday, May 19. The Lakers won, 7-6, at Dowling March 24.
Le Moyne and Limestone will face off in the other semifinal May 19. The Division II men's lacrosse tournament features four teams, with the semis taking place on-campus and the championship game held Sunday, May 27, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
Mercyhurst, the 2011 NCAA champion, is 13-0 and has been ranked atop the United States Intercollegiate Coaches Association (USILA) poll since the preseason. It beat Molloy, 8-5, on May 5 to win its first outright East Coast Conference (ECC) title and become the first ECC team with an undefeated overall regular season record. The Lakers are also the first team in school history with an unbeaten regular season in any sport.
Dowling, who finished the season 11-2, lost ,15-7, to Limestone on Sunday. The Lions' other loss came at home to Mercyhurst. The hosts took a 6-5 lead late in the third quarter, but
Brian Scheetz tied it with 11:35 to play and then assisted on
Kyle Kallay's game-winning goal with 3:30 left in the match.
