INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - Former Mercyhurst men's hockey defenseman
Kevin Noble has signed with the Central Hockey League's Missouri Mavericks just in time for the team's opening postseason series against the Evansville IceMen.
Noble fills one of two available amateur spots on the Mavericks' playoff roster.
“Kevin is a very solid puck moving defenseman and will help us continue to add depth to our d-core for the playoffs,” said Missouri's head coach Scott Hillman in a release from the Mavericks' public relations office.
The Sparwood, British Columbia native played in 139 career games for Mercyhurst over the past four seasons, registering eight goals and 43 assists for 51 points. He was one of three captains on this past season's squad that advanced to the Atlantic Hockey Association semifinals for the first time since the 2008-09 season. The Lakers lost to the eventual league playoff champion, Air Force, in the semis at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y., concluding the season with a 20-16-4 record.
Noble posted career highs in goals with five, assists with 15, and points with 20 during his senior campaign. He will wear #15 for the Mavericks.
He joins former Mercyhurst forward,
Brandon Coccimiglio, on the Mavericks' playoff roster. In 48 games with Missouri, Coccimiglio has 20 goals and 17 assists for 37 points.
The Mavericks open up postseason play Wednesday night, March 28 at Independence Events Center in Game One of the 2012 CHL Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Playoffs against the Evansville IceMen.
