SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The fifth-ranked Mercyhurst College women's hockey team stretched its winning streak to seven games by defeating Syracuse, 4-0, Friday evening in a College Hockey America contest at Tennity Ice Pavilion.

Hillary Pattenden stretched her record to 23-5-0 and marked her sixth shutout of the season with 20 saves.
Mercyhurst defeated the Orange for the 12
th straight time by scoring a goal in each of the first two periods before capping the game with a pair in the third.
Jones opened the scoring with the eventual game-winner just 30 seconds into the first period. Scanzano then made it a 2-0 game nearing the midway point of the second. After the break, the Lakers doubled the score with tallies courtesy of Bram and Scanzano at the 5:03 and 9:33 marks.
Mercyhurst outshot Syracuse 44-20, including 23-6 in the third, and converted 2-for-8 on the power play. The Orange finished 0-for-7 on the man-advantage and got 40 saves from Kallie Billadeau, who fell to 4-9-2 with the loss.
Both teams conclude the series on Saturday, Feb. 12 with a 2 p.m. contest at the Tennity Ice Pavilion.
