ERIE, Pa. – Six new faces will dot the 2010-11 Mercyhurst College men’s tennis roster helping to overcome the loss of five very productive seniors.

A pair of transfers in Omar Ammouni and Jorn van der Veer highlight the class. A product of Bensalem, Pa. and Valencia Community College in Florida, Ammouni is a very strong player who will compete for one of the top spots. Ammouni held a Junior U.S. ranking in the top 500 and was ranked in the top 15 in the Middle States.

A native of Hoofddorp, Netherlands, van der Veer brings a very competitive record from the KNLTB in the Dutch tennis association.

Also competing for the top six spots will be sophomore Kamil Kepka (Chodziez, Poland), freshmen Spencer Kilpatrick (Washington, Pa.), Eric Drusko (Pleasantville, Pa.) and Gregg Robbins-Welty (Mayville, N.Y.)

A season ago, the Lakers ended the 2009-10 campaign with a 13-12 overall mark, their best mark since finishing the 2006-07 season with a 14-6 mark, and appeared in the NCAA Tournament.

The Lakers open the season at Robert Morris on Sept. 4

Anyone interested in trying out for the men’s team should contact coach Yost (ryost@mercyhurst.edu; 814.725.6390) as soon as possible.
