Senior Defenseman Ben O'Dell Graduates and will head to Med School
The ACHA D1 men's program would like to congratulate and thank the following players and staff members for their accolades, contribution and committment to their academic and athletic goals in the 2009-2010 season.
#11 Jonathan Sears...ECHL Academic All-League Award and ACHA Academic All-American Award
#21 Reed Garetto...ECHL Academic All-League Award
#22 Mark Loecher...Most Improved Player Award & selected to Team USA World University Games team
#18 Shane Vorndran...ACHA All-Star, ACHA fastest skater as timed at the ACHA All-Star game, ACHA All-Rookie team nomination, Mercyhurst's Rookie of the Year, Leading Scorer and team MVP.
#17 Senior Kenny Hunt...averaged almost a point per game, scoring 47 times (17 on the PP), assisting 54 times for 101 points in 108 collegiate games played.
#4 Senior Ben O'Dell...a steady and consistent D-man who played in 128 collegiate games, scoring 3 goals and adding 30 assists for 33 points. Also, one of the least penalized players on the team and within the ACHA with only 30 minutes in PIMs throughout his collegiate playing experience.
Senior Staff member John Baranowski...made an integral contribution that led to our team games being broadcast on Hurst TV while also assisting with several video editing, pre-scout, team motivational and highlight video's over the past 3-4 years.
Senior Devon Swanson...who has helped with numerous broadcasts and game-day operations for the past several years.
Senior Derek Sobczak...who has helped the program and served as a part-time athletic trainer when his schedule permitted during the last few seasons.
Coach McKinnon and Assistant Coach Matt Holmes would like to congratulate these fine men for their accomplishments and contributions to our team and program throughout the years as we wish them the best in their future endeavors!
