Lakers Drop Two Spots in IWLCA Poll

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Mercyhurst College women’s lacrosse team dropped two spots to sixth in the latest Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division II Top-10 Poll, released Monday evening by IWLCA officials.

The Lakers earned 46 points after suffering a 15-9 loss to eighth-ranked Gannon in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Quarterfinals last week. Mercyhurst, standing at 16-2, will now await word from the NCAA of a possible at-large bid to the national tournament.

C.W. Post took over the top spot for the first time this season with 97 points and seven first-place votes. Adelphi, which lost for the first time this season over the weekend, slid to second with 88 points one first-place vote.

Lock Haven remained third with 85 points and the final two first-place votes, followed by Limestone at fourth with 66 points and West Chester in fifth with 55 points.

Stonehill (44), Gannon (34), Merrimack (19) and Molloy (11) rounded out the poll in spots 7 – 10.
