ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College women’s water polo team defeated Penn State Behrend, 10-3, in a non-conference match-up Tuesday evening at the Junker Center in Erie, Pa. With the win, the Lakers improve to 6-12 on the season.

Nicole Nelson led the offense with two goals and three assists for five points. Freshman
Trish Armstrong netted two goals and recorded three steals, and sophomore
Laura Perez scored once and tallied two assists. Sophomore

Mercyhurst took command of the game early on, jumping out to a 4-1 lead in the first before holding a 6-1 advantage at halftime. The Lakers then outscored the Lions, 4-2, in the second half, including 3-0 in the fourth quarter.

Cathi Korenich recorded the win with nine saves.
Mercyhurst and Penn State Behrend meet again on Tuesday, Apr. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Aquatic Center in North East, Pa.
