Lakers Improve to Fourth in IWLCA Poll

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Mercyhurst College women’s lacrosse team moved up a spot to fourth in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Top-10 Division II Poll, released Monday by IWLCA officials.
The Lakers earned 68 points after defeating then-No. 2 Lock Haven, 11-10, at home last weekend.
Adelphi held tight at No. 1, picking up 100 points and all 10 first-place votes. The Panthers are one of two undefeated teams in NCAA Division II lacrosse. C.W. Post improved to second with 79 points, followed by the Lady Eagles in third with 78 points. Limestone fell to fifth with 66 points.
West Chester (57), Stonehill (37), Gannon (25), Merrimack (24) and Molloy (8) rounded out the poll in spots 6 – 10.
Mercyhurst hosts eighth-ranked Gannon in the first round of the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Tournament on Tuesday, Apr. 24 at Tullio Field. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
