LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Mercyhurst freshman
Ben Rawding earns his second-straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Pitcher of the Week award, as announced by conference officials today.
The southpaw is the fourth different Mercyhurst pitcher to earn the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week accolade and the first to win back-to-back/multiple honors.
Rawding recorded his second consecutive complete game victory in a 2-1 win over Clarion on Saturday. The rookie scattered five hits and allowed one earned run while walking none and striking out nine in facing 27 batters. He held Clarion to a .185 batting average and help preserve a doubleheader sweep of the Golden Eagles that day.
The Lakers return to action on Wednesday, April 28 when they take on the Eastern Division's second seed in Kutztown at the PSAC Championship in Johnstown, Pa. First-pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
Mercyhurst, the Western Division's No. 3 seed will try to capture its first conference title in the sport after finishing as the tournament runner-up a year ago.
