OAKRIDGE, Tenn. -- The Mercyhurst College men's varsity four finished third in the A Final while the men's varsity eight captured first place in the B Final of the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta Sunday afternoon.
The Lakers varsity four (
Ben Caplinger at bow,
Chris Branchick at two, Dan Baggaley at three,
Jeff Murt at stroke and coxen John Thiede) advanved to the A Final by defeating the likes of William & Mary, Vanderbuilt and Temple in the opening heat where they recorded a time of 6:48.7.
In the AB semifinals, the Lakers took second with a time of 6:48.92 before taking third in the A Final with a time of 7:08.94, finishing just behind winner Murray St. (7:02.10) and Auburn (7:07).

Ryan Browning), the Lakers took second in the opening heat in a time of 6:10.06, defeating Auburn and Texas in the process.
In the AB semifinals, the Lakers finished third in a time of 5:55.39, moving them to the B Final where they defeated a field that included Purdue, Georgia Tech, St. Joseph, Colorado and North Carolina in a time of 6:20.2.
