CAMDEN, N.J. – Six boats from the Mercyhurst College men’s and women’s rowing teams will be represented in tomorrow’s finals of the Knecht Cup, hosted by Villanova University on the Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey.
Entered in the Division I varsity class, the women’s eight finished second (6:51.18) in its first heat that included boats from Miami University, Loyola, New Hampshire and MIT. On the men’s side, the lightweight varsity eight entered the Division I heavyweight class and will compete in the grand final against Temple, Virginia, Marist, Drexel and Bucknell after working through two qualifying rounds in which the Lakers finished first (5:59.20) and third (5:58.14), respectively.
The men’s freshmen eight will compete in the petite final while the freshmen four will compete in the grand final after taking first in each of its qualifying rounds. The men’s pair will also complete in the grand final.
