LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Mercyhurst College pitcher
Nick Gillung has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Pitcher of the Week, as announced today by league officials.
The lefthander earns the inaugural award of the 2010 season that is awarded on a weekly basis to the best player and pitcher from the league's Eastern and Western Divisions.
Gillung went 2-0 in two starts during the Lakers southern swing, recording victories against Florida Memorial and St. Rose.
The defending PSAC West Pitcher of the Year made his 2010 debut against Florida Memorial, going five shutout innings, giving up just two hits while striking out five batters.
Against St. Rose, the junior threw six innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits while fanning four hitters.
For the year, he owns a 0.82 ERA and opponents are hitting just .175 against him.
