ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst College women's basketball team plays at cross town rival No. 1 Gannon Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 5:30 p.m. No pre-sale tickets will be available for the event. Tickets will go on sale at the Hammermill Center when the doors open at 4:30 p.m. Fans unable to attend can follow the action through live stats, live audio, or live video.
The Lakers (12-12, 4-8 PSAC West) and Golden Knights (28-0, 12-0 PSAC West) meet for the 73rd time overall, with Gannon holding a 48-24 advantage in the all-time series. Gannon has clinched the No. 1 seed and home-court advantage for the PSAC tournament, while the Lakers are tied with Clarion for fifth place in the PSAC West, two games behind Edinboro.
Gannon downed Mercyhurst, 66-52 on Feb. 3 in the first meeting between the two teams this season. The Lakers led 32-30 at halftime, but Gannon staged a 19-3 run in the second half to pull ahead.
Amy Achesinski posted her 21st career double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Gannon's Kim Vargas led all scorers with 17 points, including her 1,000th career point.
