Lakers Stay No. 1 in USA Today Poll

COLOARDO SPRINGS, Co. – Despite falling a spot in the USCHO.com Women’s Division I Poll, the Mercyhurst College women’s hockey team kept its top-ranking in the USA Today / USA Hockey Magazine Women’s Division I Poll for the 15th-straight week, USA Hockey officials announced on Tuesday.

The Lakers earned 181 points and 10 first-place votes to stay ahead of Minnesota, which picked up 180 points and the other nine first-place tallies. Clarkson was slated third with 149 points, followed by New Hampshire at fourth with 125 points and Minnesota Duluth at fifth with 124 points.

Harvard (81), Northeastern (78), Connecticut (67), Wisconsin (23) and Cornell (20) rounded out spots 6 – 10, while Providence, Syracuse, Ohio State and Niagara were all considered in the receiving votes section.

No. 1/2 Mercyhurst returns to action this evening, Tuesday, Feb. 2, with a 7 p.m. College Hockey America contest against Robert Morris at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
