LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College women’s water polo team closed out the 2010 Bison Invitational with a pair of losses to Wagner, 10-5, and Siena, 7-6, on Sunday afternoon in Lewisburg, Pa.

Junior Rachel Griepsma led the Lakers (0-4) for the second-straight day, scoring five goals in each game. She now has 17 goals to start the season. Junior Alyssa Katerberg rounded out the offense with a goal against Siena.

In the early game against Wagner, Mercyhurst saw a 4-4 game at halftime turn sour as the Seahawks outscored the Lakers 2-1 in the third quarter before shutting them out, 4-0, in the final stanza. Just a few hours later, the Lakers dropped their second one-goal game of the tournament, as Siena used a three-goal run in the third quarter to overcome a 4-3 deficit and hand MC its fourth loss of the season.

Sophomore Hope Rozelle suffered both losses with nine saves against Wagner and 10 saves against Siena.

Mercyhurst returns to action in three weeks at the 2010 Siena Invitational, beginning on Saturday, March 6 in Albany, N.Y.
