AIC Blanks Men's Hockey, 3-0

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst College men's hockey team dropped its second straight game Saturday evening, as American International skated to a 3-0 victory over the Lakers at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
 
With the loss, the Lakers fall to 4-6-1 on the season and 4-4-0 in Atlantic Hockey Association play, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 3-7-0 overall and 3-7-0 in the conference

AIC goaltender Ben Meisner backstopped the Yellow Jackets to their first sweep of Mercyhurst in program history by making a game-high 35 saves, including 14 in the third period alone, while his offense provided him three goals through the first two periods.

Tom Mele scored the eventual game-winner at the 5:14 mark of the first period before Jon Puskar found the back of the net less than five minutes later at 10:11 and again at 10:03 of the second.

Senior Ryan Zapolski suffered the loss with 12 saves through 57:55 worth of action. He is now 4-3-0 on the season.

Mercyhurst outshot AIC 35-15 and went 0-for-4 on the power play. AIC finished 1-for-1 with the man-advantage.

Mercyhurst returns to action next weekend with a two-game series at Sacred Heart, beginning on Friday, Dec. 3 at 7:05 p.m.
