ALLIANCE, Ohio – Senior
Andy Lamancusa recorded his 100th career victory en route to the 157-lb. title at the Mount Union Purple Raider Open.
The nation’s top-ranked 157-pounder in Division II led eight Mercyhurst College placewinners, including two runners-up and two fourth-place finishers.
Lamancusa recorded the milestone win in the semifinals, defeating West Liberty State’s Shane Melko by major decision, 12-2.
The two-time All-America needs just nine victories to become the Lakers all-time wins leader and surpass current record holder Zach Schafer (109).
Finishing second was
David Bolger at 133 lbs. and heavyweight
Mike Sullivan. Contributing fourth-place finishes were
Lance Pitcel at 141 lbs. and
Fred Hale at heavyweight.
Taking fifth-place was Clint Schafer at 165 lbs. and
Pat Leahy at 174 lbs. while at 184 lbs.
Tim McAndrew added a sixth-place showing.
Next up for the Lakers is the Super Region 1 Duals, hosted by Newberry College, Jan. 23-24.
