Lakers Picked Sixth in Men's Lacrosse Poll

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Mercyhurst College men’s lacrosse team has been ranked sixth in Lacrosse Magazine’s preseason NCAA Division II men’s lacrosse poll. Lacrosse Magazine, a publication of U.S. Lacrosse, complied the ranking after consultation with other coaches and staff.
The Lakers, led by 10th-year head coach Chris Ryan, finished their 2009 campaign with an 11-3 record and were tabbed third in the final USILA Men’s Lacrosse Poll.
NCAA Division II National Champion C.W. Post was picked to repeat as the poll’s top team. Le Moyne was slated at second, followed by New York Tech (NYIT) at third, Merrimack at fourth and Limestone at fifth. Dowling, Mars Hill, St. Leo and Molloy rounded out the poll in spots 7 – 10. Additionally, Lacrosse Magazine picked Drew Bezek of Le Moyne as its player of the year.
Mercyhurst opens the 2010 season on Tuesday, Feb. 23, when the Lakers face St. Andrews at 4 p.m. in Laurinsburg, N.C.
