ERIE, Pa. –The Mercyhurst College women's water polo team saw six of its players honored as the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced its 2009 Women’s All Academic Awards this past week. Overall, 290 student-athletes were recognized from various Division I, II & III programs that sponsor women's water polo.
Senior
Cathi Korenich, juniors
Nicole Nelson and
Chrissy Becks, and sophomores
Jessica Clemente,
Laura Perez and
Hope Rozelle were honored at three different levels for their academic achievements in the classroom.
Becks (3.98) and Clemente (4.00) landed spots on the ACWPC All-Academic Outstanding Team, representing the Lakers at the highest level with grade point averages of 3.71 or higher. Korenich (3.50), Perez (3.44) and Rozelle (3.46) earned places on the Superior team with GPAs between 3.70 and 3.41, while Nelson (3.25) rounded out the honorees on the Excellent team for maintaining a mark between 3.40 and 3.20.
