Three Lakers Earn All-ECC Honors; LaShomb Named Goalkeeper of the Year
All-ECC
Erie, Pa. – Senior Jason LaShomb of the third-ranked Mercyhurst College men’s lacrosse team has been named East Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, announced Wednesday afternoon by ECC league officials. LaShomb was one of three Lakers to be honored, as senior Matt Spahr was named to the All-ECC First Team while senior Mike Bartlett landed on the all-conference second team.

LaShomb earns his second-straight goalie of the year nod after guiding the Lakers to an 11-3 record, including an upset victory over then-No. 3 New York Tech this past weekend. The Rush, N.Y. native marked a .612 save percentage and a 6.50 goals against average through 14 games. He registered seven games of 10 or more saves and posted 14 stops on two different occasions. Along with his GOY award, LaShomb was also awarded a spot on the All-ECC First Team.

Spahr, a defenseman from Media, Pa., makes his second appearance on the first team. Despite playing in eight games due to injury, Spahr made the most of his time, picking up 18 ground balls and causing 15 turnovers. He also scored two goals in an 8-7 victory over Dowling back on March 25.

Bartlett, a midfielder from Orchard Park, N.Y., played and started in all 14 games this season. He provided the Lakers with 14 goals, including the game-winning score against NYIT, and added seven assists for 21 points. Along with his offensive statistics, he also added 19 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
