Jason LaShomb of the fifth-ranked Mercyhurst College men’s lacrosse team has been named East Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the week of April 27, announced Monday afternoon by ECC league officials.
LaShomb earns his third ECC honor of the season after leading the Lakers to a 12-6 victory over Wheeling Jesuit this past weekend. The Rush, N.Y. native stopped 13 shots and held the Cardinals to just three goals over a span of 53:39, accumulating an .812 save percentage and a 3.36 goals against average. In two games against WJU this season, LaShomb has allowed five goals on 25 shots. Overall, he is 10-3 with a .603 save percentage and a 6.63 goals against average.
In other men’s lacrosse news, the Lakers moved up a spot to fifth in this week’s USILA Top-10 Men’s Lacrosse poll. Le Moyne claimed the No. 1 spot with six first place votes and 68 points. ECC foe C.W. Post came in second with the final first place nod and 64 points while New York Tech followed in at third with 57 points. Merrimack racked up 46 points for fourth. Limestone (29), Bentley (27), Molloy (27), Dowling (18) and Saint Leo (9) rounded out spots six through 10.
Mercyhurst will conclude its regular season this weekend when third-ranked New York Tech comes to town for a 1 p.m. contest at Tullio Field.
