ERIE, Pa. -- The No. 19 Mercyhurst College wrestling team went 2-1 at the Seton Hill Quad Meet, picking up victories against the host Griffins and Mercyhurst North East while falling to East Stroudsburg.

The Lakers downed the Griffins 23-12, and handed the Saints a 42-6 defeat.  The Warriors completed the day's action with a 23-12 win over Mercyhurst.

Five Lakers went undefeated on the day, led by the nation's top-ranked wrestlers in Andy Lamancusa at 157 lbs. and Josh Shields at 165 lbs, who both went 3-0.

Pat Leahy won his only match at 174 lbs. while Fred Hale and Mike Sullivan combined to be perfect at heavyweight.  Hale recorded a 2-0 mark and Sullivan added a 1-0 showing.

As a team, the Lakers are next in action on Jan. 9-10 at the National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals, hosted by the University of Northern Iowa.

Lamancusa and Shields will be in action next on Dec. 29-30 at the Midlands Tournament, hosted by Northwestern University.
