Erie, Pa. – Senior
Tomas Bolger earned fourth place overall, leading the Mercyhurst men’s cross country team to a second place at the Mercyhurst Invitational, held Saturday, Oct. 17 at Pleasant Ridge Park in Fairview. The Lakers were edged out by Thiel College by three points for the team title.
Mercyhurst posted a team score of 42, three more than team champion Thiel. Davis and Elkins placed third with 76 points, followed by Gannon with 103. West Liberty took fifth and Pitt Bradford finished sixth.
Bolger placed fourth out of 53 competitors in the 8K race in 27:39, finishing behind three runners from Edinboro.
Nicholas Stolar finished 13th in a time of 28:23, while
Ryan Haylett ran a 29:06 for 15th.
Christopher Strohm placed 20th in 29:20, followed by teammate
Steven Lovewell in 21st with a 29:20.
Andrew Rusnak ran a 29:53 for 26th position. Also competing for the Lakers were:
Steven Long and
Kevin Flanagan.
The Lakers will next compete at the PSAC Cross Country Championships, hosted by Edinboro University of Pennsylvania Saturday, Oct. 24.
