Lakers Continue to Roll
The Mercyhurst ACHA Hockey team continues to impress, coming off a weekend series sweep of ECHL league member, the University of Buffalo and notching a win against the #13 seed in the nation, the Kent State University Golden Flashes a day later.

Mercyhurst had to overcome a 3rd period 4 goal deficit against the University of Buffalo to continue in their winning ways. Down 6-2 with 17 minutes left in the game, Mercyhurst turned in one of the most impressive comebacks of the year finding the back of the net 4 times in 12 minutes to force the game into overtime. Leading the comeback for the Lakers was freshman defenseman Chad Thompson who had 2 goals and 2 assists on the night. The memorable comeback was capped off a few minutes into overtime off an odd man rush as Steve Stepanian found the back of the net off a David Gaines feed.

The following night, Mercyhurst traveled to Kent State University to take on the #13 seed in the nation. In what turned out to be a hard fought battle, Mercyhurst came out on the winning end defeating Kent State by a score of 3-0. Though Mercyhurst was outshot by the Golden Flashes, most of their shots came from the perimeter and were handled by senior goaltender Adam Falkner who turned in one of his best performances on the year. "Adam played spectacular. His focus and confidence were the highest I've seen this year. Shutting out a nationals bound team is not only due to an outstanding performance by our goaltender, but a true reflection of the performance of our entire team, commented Coach McKinnon who was quick to praise his players for their execution of the team's game plan.

The Lakers once again had 8 different players score with 15 of them recording at least one point in the above noted games. The Lakers are hoping to carry their balanced scoring attack and 7 game win streak into another weekend series against two College Hockey Mid America (CHMA) opponents from the Indiana University of Pa., and Youngstown State University. Mercyhurst currently holds a 5-1 record against opponents from the CHMA.
