Problems at the Mercyhurst Ice Center and the subsequent ice venue change did not seem to affect the Lakers as they rolled through a 3 game weekend obtaining 3 wins.
Coming off 2 big wins against College Hockey Mid-America (CHMA) opponents from #15 Duquesne University (7-4) and Washington & Jefferson College (5-1), Mercyhurst carried its momentum into a 3 game weekend within its own Eastern Collegiate Hockey League (ECHL) conference defeating Syracuse University 7-3, Niagara University 3-2 in overtime and doubling up on the University of Buffalo 6-3 on senior night.
There were 8 different Lakers who provided goals over the course of the 3 game weekend with sophomore Jeff Monnin leading the way with 4 goals, all of which came against the University of Buffalo in Saturday's Senior Night contest. Monnin also added 3 assists over the weekend and currently leads all Lakers in points with 49 on the year. David Gaines found the back of the net 3 times, the prettiest of which was his overtime winner against Niagara while adding 2 assists over the weekend as well. The Lakers continued to role over their competition with a very solid and balanced scoring approach as 15 different Lakers recorded points over the weekend.
Senior goaltender Adam Falkner took the brunt of the workload over the weekend stopping 90-98 shots, going 3-0 and adding 2 assists to the Lakers attack.
