Dan Bertolini Signs With Midwest Sliders

Waterford, Mich. – Dan Bertolini has become the third former Mercyhurst baseball player to sign with a team in the independent Frontier League this year, joining the Midwest Sliders as a shortstop. Bertolini joins former teammates James Ludwig and Brian Chad, each of whom signed earlier this summer.

Bertolini graduated in 2008 and was a second team All-GLIAC performer, starting 51 of the team's 52 games at shortstop. He received an ABCA North Central Region Gold Glove after posting a .964 fielding percentage and leading the GLIAC in assists and double plays turned.

Offensively, Bertolini hit .319 in 2008 with seven doubles, a homer and 18 RBI. He was a perfect 8-for-8 stealing bases and added a team-high 14 sacrifice hits. He was a four-year starter for the Lakers, starting 197 games in his career. He ranks seventh in program history with 182 career hits.

The Midwest Sliders are just 20-47 on the season and sit 22 games behind Kalamazoo in the East Division.
