Warren and Loper Named Longstreth/NFHCA All-Americans

Erie, Pa. – Juniors Emily Warren and Courtney Loper of the Mercyhurst College field hockey team have been selected to the 2008 Longstreth / NFHCA Division II All-American Second Team, announced Monday afternoon by NFHCA officials.

This is the third straight year that a Mercyhurst player has landed on an All-American team. Junior Kristen Fogle represented the Lakers in 2006 and 2007.

Warren, a forward from Amherst, N.Y., led the Lakers in scoring for the second straight season with 15 goals and six assists. Her 36 points were the second most scored by a Laker in a season and had helped her climb into third place all-time for points scored in a career (69).

Loper, a defender from Harrisburg, Pa., anchored the team's backfield in all 19 games. Her two goals and four assists ranked her seventh in points on the squad.

Both players earned spots on the 2008 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Second Team earlier this month.
