Erie, Pa. – Junior Meghan Agosta and freshman Hillary Pattenden of the No. 10 Mercyhurst College women’s hockey team were named College Hockey America Players of the Week for leading the Lakers in back-to-back wins over Syracuse this past weekend.
Agosta, a forward from Ruthven, Ontario, earned CHA Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Pattenden, a goaltender from Surrey, British Columbia, was named the CHA Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
Agosta orchestrated the offense with seven points in the Lakers second sweep of the season. Her two points in Friday’s game had a significant impact, with her power-play goal tying the game at one and her assist to set up the game-winning strike. In Saturday’s victory, she scored the game-winning goal among her three lamp-lighters. She had 22 shots on goal in the series and was +4 (plus/minus rating).
Pattenden improved her record to 6-1-0 by turning away 34 of the Orange’s 36 total shots and allowing just two goals. In Friday’s contest, she made 20 saves on 21 shots in a 4-1 victory, while the very next day, she stopped 14 shots through two periods in a 7-1 triumph.
Mercyhurst returns to action this weekend with single games against Providence on Friday, Nov. 21 and Brown on Saturday, Nov. 22.
