Baltimore, Md. – Head coach
Chris Ryan of the Mercyhurst College men's lacrosse team has been selected to present at the 2009 US Lacrosse National Convention, beginning on January 16 in Baltimore, Md.
Ryan, who enters his ninth season at the helm of the men's lacrosse program, has established a winning tradition at Mercyhurst. During his tenure, he has accrued an overall record of 84-29 while guiding his team to four appearances in the NCAA Tournament. He has produced 22 All-Americans, six Academic All-Americans, three USILA Players of the Year (defensive, goalkeeper and specialist) and has helped his team earn several other distinctions.
Over 140 presenters, including officials, coaches, and players, will speak at the National Convention. Highlighting the list of speakers is Baltimore icon and former Major League Baseball player Cal Ripken, Jr., who will present the keynote address on Friday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. at the Convention Center.
The US Lacrosse National Convention provides the sport's largest educational opportunity, with over 5,000 coaches, officials, program administrators and vendors in attendance each year. For the fifth year in a row the convention will feature a “live field” area, sponsored by Warrior and Brine, to supplement classroom clinics for coaches and officials. Clinics are offered for all levels of coaches and officials, ranging from youth play up through college-aged players.
