Despite scoring five goals against the Tiffin Dragons, the Mercyhurst Lakers fell 6-5 on Wednesday in the team's last regular season home game. Three Mercyhurst players had multiple points in the game and accumulated a 28-20 shot advantage over the Dragons. The Lakers are now 7-9-2 this season. Tiffin improves to 10-6-1 overall.
Freshman Billy Colton scored two goals and tallied one assist in the match, while his veteran counterpart junior Kurt Young contributed one goal and one assist. Junior Sean Spangler also chipped in one goal and one assist in the attempt, while junior Tyler Emerick was responsible for the fifth goal. Despite their valiant efforts, Tiffin would out-score the Lakers 5-2 in the second half to take the win away from Mercyhurst.
Mercyhurst held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks and 17-10 advantage in shots on goal. Tempers were firing as well with 25 fouls and seven cards distributed between the two teams.
Mercyhurst will now return to the road for its last regular season match-up against GLIAC opponent Gannon. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
